Nona: "December 15th 2004 was the last day of classes before our Holiday Break. That day we only had classes until 12 noon in preparation for the annual Christmas Concert that evening. Teachers usually stay for the full day to complete their working hours and to finalize all the grades of their students. So I was in the classroom quietly checking papers when Kuya Rocky the bus driver knocked on the door and told us we were allowed to go home early and that there will be a 1 pm bus aside from the usual 3:30 and 4:30 schedule. I didn't have to think think twice and grabbed my backpack and lunchbag and dashed out the door. The Brent Schoolbus had 2 major stops at that time: Bulabog Beach and Diniwid Beach where I lived. As the schoolbus took its usual U-turn at Bulabog Beach something weird happened... Kuya Rocky stopped. I looked out and noticed that there were no tricycles parked at the corner that day. Then I looked at Kuya Rocky and thought to myself: "Kuya Rocky never stops to text." He always made the U-turn and drives away. During this little break, 4 tourists approached the bus and asked the driver if they could hitch a ride. Kuya Rocky didn't seem to answer but looked back at us to see if it was ok. Before I could even give a go signal they jumped on the bus..."
